El Hotel Elegante (partes 4-5)
Suddenly, the women gets red and she runs away. She is ashamed and sad. She grabs her suitcases from the room, she moves really fast, and runs out the hotel, without saying "goodbye" to Juan or the receptionist. She takes the car of Uber and escapes in less than three minutes.
She arrives at the airport at Cancun, and in the line for the suitcase check in, she can't find her passport. It is in the room. She yells "oh my gosh!" and starts to cry. She cries a lot. there is an employee at the airline, Delta, they say, "i can help you miss." the women stopped crying and smiles. the employee verifies her license, not the passport, and there is no problem. She doesn't say thank you or give a tip.
The women receives her boarding pass ( the trip is to here and back), leaves her suitcase, and walks to security. he takes the license for identification and starts to walk, but the man of security says "stay here, please." the man says her license is expired! Oh! the women starts to cry, and the man says "Don't cry, please, i can help you." The women stops crying and smiles. the employee gets the director, and says there is no problem. She passes the security, and is happy. She doesn't say thank you or tip.
She looks at the screen to find the exit, and she bought a sandwich and a soda because she is hungry. Suddenly, after she eats the sandwich, she does not feel well. She runs to the bathroom before she gets there she vomits in the center of the aisle, with all of the passengers. She is really embarrassed and she gets red. She Starts to cry when a employee says " it is well miss, don't cry, i can help you." She looks at the man and smiles. she is content. The employees clean the vomit and the women doesn't say thank you or tip.
Finally, she goes to the gate, B4. All of them are boarding the plane, and the women boards also (group 1 because the seat 3C, in first class). She finds her seat and there is a man. he is in a really elegant suit; he is tall and handsome, and the women is very content. Smiling, she blinks her eyebrows(????), and talks. the two have conversation during the whole flight, two hours, and she has positive chemistry and it is good. The eat dinner, drink wine, and laugh. But, suddenly, the man is not well. He vomits on all parts of the seat, including the women. The women is surprised and starts to cry. The vomit is new, and he runs to the bathroom. The assistant runs and says " i can help miss!" the bring towels and clean it all; the women doesn't say thank you or tip.
Very fast, the plane lands and all leave. The women thinks that the man is in the bathroom, and waits. She waits 5 minutes- then, she bangs on the bathroom door. She calls the man. he does not respond. She goes into the bathroom-- the man isn't there! The assistant says that the man did not pay. The women, covered in vomit, without passport (hotel), without license (confiscated),she has to pay for the dinner and the wine: $200. She starts to cry.
Suddenly, she sees a paper in the bathroom. It is not toilet paper. It is a note. It says " thanks for the food, the wine, and the conversation. Now, you can pay for being fake, and don't forget the tip - Paulo (Juan's brother). the women starts to cry a lot and the employees laugh.
Repeated:
No dice gracias, no de la propina
la mujer empieza a llorar
y sonrie
"Students can do more than we think they can- allow the space for them to do more" -Leslie Baldwin
"If we want students to communicate we need to let things get messy" -Leslie Baldwin
"True language learning happens through motivation and relationships" -Katrina Griff
"How can we make students globally prepared when languages are seen as unimportant" -Schmetterlingal
"Mentors play key roles" -Leslie Baldwin
All five points addressed above are important and all somehow relate. It is important that students get the opportunity to think for themselves and teachers shouldn't underestimate our ability. We should also promote language more as a whole and teach language in a way that is fun and easy to understand.
